Truck scales without pit

Our truck scales are capable for weighing large-size and heavy vehicles. Major characteristics of these scales are detailed below.

Size of weigh-bridge, weighing limit
Length and weighing limit usually relate to each other

  • Most frequently we deliver weigh-bridges of 8 or 9 metres long with a weighing limit of 15-30 tons to weigh single cars.
  • The most frequently used scales to weigh trucks are 18 metres in length with a weighing limit of 40-60 tons
  • There are truck scales constructed with weigh-bridges of 20 metres manufactured on special request
  • The scale width is usually 3 metres; the recommended bridge length is the distance between the first and last axes of the vehicle to be weighed + 1 metre.

Weigh-bridge structure
Depending on the material covering the surface of the scale it can be a steel bridged or concrete bridged scale.

Steel bridged scale
The bridge is structured of welded painted steel which is delivered ready for use to the site of installation.

Advantages of the steel bridged structure:

- fast site installation, commissioning (1-2 days)
- easy-to-move (1 day)
- it can be delivered to the site in a completely ready condition

Disadvantages of the steel bridged structure:
- in the long term large surfaces require corrosion protection
- load capacity of the bridge is not homogeneous throughout the entire bridge surface, only directed (longitudinal) traffic is allowed (this disadvantage is shown in the case of flush-mounted installation)

Concrete bridged balance
Frame of the bridge structure is delivered to the site welded and painted and it serves as moulds for casting of concrete. Anchoring and concrete works of the bridge structure are to be finished at the site of installation.

Advantages of the concrete bridged structure:
- in the longer term corrosion protection is significantly cheaper
- homogeneous load capacity throughout the entire bridge surface, no traffic direction is needed.
- protection of weighing cells against dynamic load is better (due to heavier bare weight of the bridge)
- lower selling costs

Disadvantages of concrete bridged structure:
- moving is more expensive
- installation is weather dependent (due to concrete works at the site)
- the entire construction time is about 10 days longer (compared to the steel bridged solution)

Installation, mode of construction:
Installation
The scale can be installed on a concrete base of sufficient quality and hardness ensuring horizontal contact surfaces (4, 6, 8) on the ground level or in a shallow pit that is to be prepared by the user.
Detailed implementation plan is provided for the concrete works.

Mode of construction:
Solution by using a shallow pit
In the case of this solution going surface of the truck scale is on the same level as the environment and the bridge member is placed into a pit sized about 500 mm.
It is especially important to drain or clean the pit and that the steel bridged scale can only be loaded by cars proceeding longitudinally onto the bridge.

Finish without pit
Going surface of the truck scale is about 400 mm higher than the environment and slanting access ramps of 4000-5000 mm are to be provided at the two ends. This latter solution is more frequently used due to easier cleaning.

Instrumentation, software
The evaluation electronics of the scale comprise state-of-the-art solutions; it can be calibrated and equipped with port connection. To meet special requirements it can also be manufactured with divided weighing limit. (for example, with steps of 10 kg up to 30 tonnes and with steps of 20 kg between 30-60 tonnes). A secondary display or a computer can also be connected to the equipment. Together with the data processing program MÉRTÉK the PC is capable of precise data recording of goods turnover, as well as for printing and making out waybills and invoices. The program can also be used for collection of statistical data and logging of items. The equipment can be operated in an office environment. Casing of the scale needs to be placed in such a way that the operator can see the entire truck scale.

Weighing cells

Our built-in weighing cells enjoy a high reputation worldwide; they are the best and most reliable HBM type weighing cells. The weighing cells have an anti-rust finish; they are closed by way of laser welding and equipped with a load conveyor and swing protection. Our scales are equipped with traditional, so-called analogue cells, but it is also possible to build in the most modern digital scale cells.
Apart from HBM type scale cells it is feasible to build reliable scales by using cheaper weighing cells ranked only in the second line. Nevertheless, as far as we are concerned, we appreciate reliability more highly than cost cutting thus we build in these weighing cells exclusively based on a specific customer request.
